The North Bay Playhouse, opened as Scarborough’s first purpose built public cinema in 1914! Still here today. Situated atop a low cliff side of pretty public paths, overlooking the sea across the town’s majestic North Bay. The Playhouse invites you and your family to experience the latest blockbuster films, timeless classics, exciting live events, music and more! You can book on-line, or you can pay in the foyer before the film. We take cash or card.
We are putting together a 2026 season of films and events being added to regularly – So please keep looking in and support your local venue!

If your an Oasis fan, or if your coming with one, its going to be a night of Givin it Large! Singing encouraged – but not in the talking bits.
Great Fun! – come along and enjoy yourself.. Writing for TheWrap, critic Matt Donato praised the film as “dumb fun” in the best sense. An absurdly offbeat comedy and a breath of fresh air in a stale genre, driven by Zoey Deutch’s wide-eyed comedic performance as Gail.

Fred Topel (who he?) wrote that it is “exactly the kind of charming comedy that stands out in indie cinema’. That may be – but its still very witty and funny. If you want a wee break from American scripts, this is a uniquely British written jem.

The Keep
Is a brilliant ‘cult’ supernatural film made in the early 80’s. Set in Romania during World War II, a group of Nazi soldiers occupies a mysterious ancient fortress in the Carpathian Mountains.
The film became infamous for its Nazi occultism, hunted-like tension, and mystical mythology. It’s surreal, atmospheric visuals, Tangerine Dream score, and enigmatic story will make it a memorable experience in the cinema (15)

Thank you to all who came to the Magic Music Night – what a lovely atmosphere.. Here is a pic and a wee clip.. That’s probably the first time organ music has been played to a silent film at the this cinema in about about a hundred years!

A U film should be suitable for audiences aged four years and over.
